Firefox Frustration Alliteration

Firefox 2.0’s functionality caused a feverish frenzy of fits that feature words that start with “F,” friends. Since installing the new version, I am unable to get it to work.

Even uninstall/re-installs have proven fruitless. Or rather, the install works, but I when I go to open the program, I get a message saying that a previous Firefox process needs to be stopped first, or restart. Neither works, and I am losing patience fast. I can’t handle another hour of IE; I just can’t.

I am currently accepting any sympathy or useful “how to” tips you may have. Thanks in advance!

Update: Crisis averted, thanks to Lindsey and the MozillaZine Knowledge Base.

I was waiting for someone to say that…figures it would be you.

You make a good case, though. Oh, and I managed to fix it, smartass.

    You’ve fixed it??? How???

And I’m with you Lindsey… if only we could all switch to Macs with the click of our fingers. I’m working on it… oh I’m working on it!

Jords, I was going to suggest if you are still having problems, that you give “Flock” a go. It’s built on the Firefox engine (so that would get you away from the horrible IE crap), but it’s an independent release so it probably wouldn’t steer you into an installation conflict like you are experiencing with Firefox 2.0 right now.

Indeed, I have taken a look at Flock before. Floyd and Will are MySpace friends, after all.

The fix was a combination of things. Lindsey helped me locate my profile folder before I started uninstalling as a way of trying to fix the problem.

The forum basically pointed out the steps of making sure said profile was not locked. When I noticed that no such profile existed, it dawned on me that i should attempt to insert my saved profile folder, and then try.

    And that did it.
