Twitter in Marketing : The Blogosphere

Topic: Twitter

Message: Plurk are from Mississauga, ON in case you didn't know...The fact that they offer a timeline and threaded conversations is neat, but it can get noisy in that view. What I mean is, if you are following a lot of people, (like the 90 or so I follow on Twitter) the activity is too much to keep up with (too many clicks) to read it all. Beyond that, it seems to be performing well (hear that, Twitter?), and kudos to Plurk for offering IM services and a mobile view site: http://www.plurk.com/m/ as alternatives to the funky timeline.

Topic: How to "sexify" RSS???

Message: Jordan once again brought up the subject of RSS and the magic you can perform using this simple technology, today in his Blog.I've always thought the take-up of RSS usage for saving Internet usage time (instant Blog and News updates) has always been slower than you would expect because the acronym RSS is so damned un-sexy and even daunting to most people.I mean let's face it, when faced with an acronym, the first thing people do is seek the meaning and "Really Simple Syndication" still doesn't adequately explain what the technology is all about in "Lehman's" terms. What if there was a far sexier universal title or name given to the technology? I bet you anything you like that the take-up rate would increase over night given the right coverage etc.Thoughts? Ideas on what it should be called?

Topic: Twitter

Message: Like any other social media tool, you only share what you wish to...if it were a bit faster loading, it would be like conference IMing essentially, where everyone on your friends list can join in on the discussion. I have yet to put my Twitter widget in the sidebar of my site, but when I do, I think it'll be akin to the hanging the proverbial shingle on the office door: "The doctor is in."

Topic: Twitter

Message: Can someone explain/justify the buzz surrounding the whole "Twitter" thing? Maybe I'm missing something, but I just don't get the appeal, nor the benefits of use. I mean I understand it makes it easier for people to know where you are and what you're doing all the time, but surely the greater population values their privacy more than that??
