Marathon 2007 Update

The Race is May 6th, and I’m going to make it happen.

Today my sister and I ran our first half-marathon-distance training run. (13mi, or 22k for us Canucks) I wanted to run a picture of us running, but nobody wants to get up that early to take a shot of us.

My knees hurt, but I will soldier on.

You are deeply nuts mate… you know that? But I admire you for giving it a shake… ;)

Honey… you and Janis are my heroes. You couldn’t pay me enough to do your training regimen but you continue to inspire others and that’s why I love you. Just popping by to leave you a comment and some words of encouragement! You know I’ll be there at the end to give you your well deserved feet rub.

My knees hurt, too! And we’re not really out there to inspire others, we’re just nuts. Whose idea was this, anyway?

I wish I had your energy, lol. Good luck to the both of you on your adventure :)

Thanks Rob, and you too Yobo. Yes, we are a little crazy, but this was the year I decided to stop talking about doing stuff and start DOING. Hence the marathon and the launch of the business.

Jan, the absolute truth of the matter is that I couldn’t do it without you, so thank you for being such a great training partner, and even being crazy enough to do the marathon yourself. If nothing else, you’re an inspiration to me, and that’s what’s important.

Thanks Geri. I’ll keep publishing updates as we hit certain milestones; 13 miles was an important one, as we’ve been able to prove that our bodies are responding to the training.

It’s the farthest I’ve ever run in one go, and it was interesting to see how much of a mental battle it turned out to be. Believing we could do it was half of the battle :)

I wondered where this plan had gone? Be sure to keep us posted..

I am ramping up for this winter’s middle-distance fun runs here in Brisbane, Australia. Will have to keep in touch to compare successes and pain!

    Good luck!

    Thanks Shane, you too!

You guys run in the winter there (our summer)?

  9. Categoriesshane says:

yeah definitely Winter over Summer.. I did only one 8km trot in 30c+ heat during December here. That was one too many.

Any recent training has been in the early morning when temps are still to break through 25 degrees C. And that’s usually before 7am!
