Marketing that will start a conversation!
Hi, I’m Janis. I’m not JUST Jordan’s younger sister.
I figure I've been too quiet for too long. It's time to introduce myself. I'm Janis. Nice to meet you. You'll be hearing a lot more from me here at Tell Ten Friends in the next little while. I've been busy lately. I've been interning at AdHack, a BootUpLabs company, which shares an office floor with Strutta, who Jordan works for. Secondly, I have been collaborating on a few Tell Ten Friends proje...

Dusting Off the Runners for Cancer
My sister was the one that issued the challenge. After announcing on Twitter that she and my mom had signed up for the Sun Run, the trash talk began. It didn’t take long for my brother and I to respond to the taunting, and then I upped the stakes. So presently, four members of my immediate family are prepping to run the Sun Run on May 3rd. And since I am confident that I will cross the line a...
Help Build a Web Ad Case Study
My friends from Adhack.com have just launched a new campaign called “Show us Your Balls.” The campaign is meant to draw attention to their “People Powered Ads” services for ad creators and ad buyers, ad what better way to do that than with a campaign of their own. The best part is, they’re letting everyone get involved. Here is a more detailed description of the promotion, includi...
Platform Cage Match: Tumblr vs. Soup vs. OnSugar vs. Storytlr
We’re taking a closer at several personal “life stream” platforms, in a effort to discover which offers the best options and features, based on my own set of criteria. I explained the problem that spawned this little experiment in a previous post on my personal blog, but I’ll sum it up again here briefly. As an online marketer, photographer, “micro-blogger,” and multi-media hobbyist...
What Does Beta Mean?
Please Note: This item is cross-posted from the Strutta blog (my day job). I felt that it was relevant enough to post here as well, as it documents some of the process of launching and marketing a software product, from my perspective. Last night we received a question from a Strutta user via the contact form. He asked, "When are we going to be not beta? Why is there beta anyway?" As soon as...

With the New Year Comes Change

Posted By: Jordan Behan on January 2, 2007 in Random - Comments: 9 Comments »

2007 is going to be a great year, I can just sense it.

For one thing, my sister moved to town, and that means more quality time with family, plus a consistent running partner to keep me in line while training for the Vancouver Marathon this May. Call that my New Year’s resolution, but longtime TTF readers will recall I committed to this several months ago, and after a (admittedly light) season of occasional runs here in Vancouver last year, I’m ready for the real deal this year. The big one. I can feel the burn already, and I’m still a bit “festive” from the wine at dinner. This should be interesting.

Also of note: I got a new camera (yeaaaaah!) from my wife for Christmas, an Olympus Evolt E-500. And I’m loving it. Two seconds out of the box and it took me right back to my days as a sports shooter, firing away like mad on my 35mm SLR hoping I got the puck (or soccer ball, etc.) in the frame. I’m back behind the lens again, and this time it’s not a betacam, DV or a video camera of any kind, but my beloved still photography. I missed it, so prepare for an increase in the number of shots coming through my feed (pardon the duplicate, in this case). But sentimentality aside, it will have great business applications as well. Add photography to the list of services available from your favorite boutique marketing firm :)

Still, since Vancouver has been a rainy mess (surprise!) the past few days, I haven’t been able to snap much of anything that’s ‘flickr worthy.’ So I’ve defaulted to the obvious cop-out in times like these, where the first shot has to tell a certain story…and so here is a shot of my new camera, by my new camera:

Did I mention how terrific Mrs. Behan is at giving Christmas presents?

Have a terrific and prosperous New Year, all. I’m back in the saddle, so posting should resume just as sporadic and inconsistent as ever. Cheers!

  3. Congrats on the new camera, and the new year! I was lucky enough to find a new camera under the tree this year too – and was equally ecstatic. You’re right, it is going to be a “great year”!

Looks like an awesome pressy for that price. I hadn’t checked out anything from olympus before but it looks awesome. How do you like your lense? Isn’t it a 14 to 48mm? Should be great for some sunset photos if we ever get any length of sunshine. I’m curious to know how the camera holds up, especially for weight and where you bring it…

  9. Jordan says:

Hey thanks Mrs. Masefiedl! (And Jen too, I believe)

To answer your questions, the camera came with two lenses, a 14-45 and a 40-150. The body itself is quite light, and the lenses weigh about what you’d expect lenses to weigh.

To begin with, I’m sure I’ll bring it everywhere, but Rob and I will have to alternate on trips to the mountains, because two cameras would be overkill! It’s snowing today, so I’ll try to get out and take some shots. I’ll have to read my manual to see what settings are best for snow!!
